Organic or inorganic fungicides with strong antibacterial properties are usually fixed on the surface of biomedical materials by physical adsorption or chemical bonding, and direct contact with coatings can quickly kill bacteria. Among them, quaternary ammonium salts (QAS) are commonly used organic fungicides, which will first attract bacteria through electrostatic interactions, promoting the hydrophobic alkyl chains of QAS to pierce the bacterial cell wall attached to the surface of the material, and then pass through the contact mechanism. Dissolves cell membranes and destabilizes the intracellular matrix.
