Biofilm Volume and Morphology Analysis

Biofilms include any co-trophic consortia of microorganisms in which cells adhere to each other and often also to surfaces. These adherent cells are embedded in a sticky extracellular matrix composed of extracellular polymers (EPS). Cells within biofilms produce EPS components, which are usually aggregates of extracellular polysaccharides, proteins, lipids, and DNA. Biofilms can form on animate or inanimate surfaces and can be ubiquitous in natural, industrial, and hospital settings. Now, CD BioSciences provides you with a variety of biofilm volume and morphology analysis service to meet your scientific research needs.

Our Services

CD BioSciences provides one-stop biofilm volume and morphology analysis service. We offer a variety of methods and equipment to choose from to meet your research needs.

Biofilm Volume and Morphology Analysis Approaches We Offer

  • The XTT method was used for quantitative analysis and the dynamic formation process of biofilm was observed under laser confocal microscope and fluorescence microscope. The sterilized glass slides treated with serum formed biofilms in six-well plates. After fluorescent staining, the biofilm formation process was dynamically observed under a fluorescence microscope and a laser confocal microscope, and the XTT reduction method was used to quantitatively analyze the biofilm formation process.
  • Once a mature biofilm is formed, analysis of total biofilm volume and morphology can provide important information about biofilm structure and morphology without disrupting the physical structure of the membrane.
  • We use microscopy to determine or estimate the total surface coverage and volume of biofilms, including extracellular polymeric matrices.
  • By calibrating the microscope focal height, we can determine the depth of the biofilm layer by determining the height of the top of the biofilm and the height of the surface to which the biofilm is attached
  • We measured total biofilm using fluorescence microscopy, which can be used to determine the thickness of the root biofilm layer.
