Biofilm DPD Service

On top of CGMD, another approach based on MD computations strives to accurately delineate the mesoscale, known as dissipative particle dynamics (DPD). DPD is a widely used stochastic simulation of complex fluids, originally proposed by Hoogerbrugge and Koelman, assigning statistical mechanical information beads that retain chemical and physical properties, mainly for microfluidics and complex fluid modeling. Specific DPD Approaches We Offer

  • We have widely used DPD in biological systems such as small-scale cell membranes and lipid bilayers, and in 2011, DPD was initially applied to biological membrane models by , where fluid-flow interactions and transport phenomena are closely watched.
  • We simulate biofilms by bacterial cells that can also be modeled into combinations of hundreds of DPD beads.
  • More importantly, we employ DPD to study the design of biofilm constitutive models and antibiotic drug design. The Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM) is a particle-based bottom-up model for tracking the dynamics and properties of individual bacterial cells, originating from classical statistical physics and lattice gas automata.
