  Our 2D DIGE service can be used for multiple studies of biofilm proteomes. 2D DIGE has also been used to characterize strain changes in biofilm proteomes and the impact of environmental conditions on biofilm intercellular and extracellular proteomes. The 2D DIGE method requires staining of proteins with dyes such as silver or Coomassie blue. The proteomes of cells cultured under different conditions were run on different gels, and the intensities of individual protein spots were compared using image analysis software.
