  • Note that DEM, which can also be referred to as individual-based modeling (IbM) and agent-based modeling (ABM), is one of the most adopted methods for biofilm modeling due to its accurate description and coupling of biological processes, chemical reactions and mechanical properties, and is one of the most promising techniques for connecting multi-scale multi-physical properties.
