Anti-Biofilm Activity Testing

The formation and persistence of surface-attached microbial communities, known as biofilms, are responsible for 75% of human microbial infections. Biofilm lifestyles confer several advantages to pathogens, especially during colonization of medical devices and/or patient organs. Furthermore, sessile bacteria are highly tolerant to exogenous stress, including anti-infective agents. Biofilms are highly competitive communities, and some microorganisms exhibit biofilm-resistant capabilities, such as bacterial growth inhibition, repulsion, or competition, which allow them to gain an advantage and become dominant. The deciphering and control of anti-biofilm properties represent a future challenge for human infection control. Now, CD BioSciences provides you with a variety of anti-biofilm activity testing service to meet your scientific research needs.

Our Services

CD BioSciences provides one-stop anti-biofilm activity testing services. We offer a variety of methods and equipment to choose from to meet your research needs. Our methods for testing anti-biofilm activity include microtiter plate method, quantitative real-time PCR and mass spectrometry, you can choose according to your needs.

Anti-Biofilm Activity Testing

Anti-Biofilm Activity Testing Approaches We Offer

  • Microtiter plate method
The microtiter plate (MtP) assay is a qualitative assay for anti-biofilm activity by a microplate reader.
  • Quantitative real-time PCR
We measured the expression of biofilm-related genes by quantitative real-time PCR, and the measurement of biofilm genes inhibited or induced by reagents was done by quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR). Therefore, anti-biofilm activity can be detected by qPCR.
  • Mass spectrometry
Extracellular polymers (EPS) contain not only polysaccharides but also proteins such as extracellular enzymes. These expressed proteins located in the EPS matrix can be detected and characterized by mass spectrometry (MS). MS can also detect and characterize large biomolecules in complex biological structures such as EPS. Therefore, we performed an auxiliary anti-biofilm activity assay by MS.

Test Samples

We provide the following samples for anti-biofilm activity testing, including but not limited to:

Non-thermal plasma Antibiotics
Photodynamic substances Protozoan grazing
